We started in 2014 fitting boilers and stopped taking boiler work in 2021. Not out of principle, but because doing both badly was the obvious outcome of doing both.
There are two engineers and one surveyor. That is the whole company, and it sets the ceiling on how much work we take: roughly seventy installs a year. Growing past that would mean subcontracting the commissioning, which is the exact step where the systems people complain about go wrong.
We turn down about a third of enquiries. Usually because the house needs insulation more than it needs a heat pump, occasionally because it is too far away for us to service properly. Both of those are better conversations to have on the phone than at the quote.
They turned down the first job we asked them for, told us the loft insulation was the better spend, and came back a year later to do the heat pump. That is the reason we recommend them.
Came off oil. The survey took most of a morning and the quote matched it to the pound. Two radiators changed, not the eight another firm insisted on.
The flow temperature was set to the calculation rather than to a default, which apparently is unusual. House is warm, running cost is what they said it would be.
